440 sqn SAR response - single engine plane crash between rankin inlet and repulse bay

  first trip into the barrens in the summer for me in a long time.
gas stop in rankin inlet and then into the search area south of repulse bay.  hudson bay is to the east

darkness sets in and we are told to leave the search area even though the evening is a good time to search. the herc from Winnipeg that arrives just after we leave immediately spots the crash. sartechs jump onto the crash and spend a cold nite with the survivor.

in the morning we leave  rankin inlet for baker lake and a quick gas stop before reading home.
