30 jul. day 1
for me but day one for us on the beemers. we head west on highway
13 to 22, the pick up the david thompson highway at rocky mountain house.
we later refuel at saskatchewan crossing where the thompson bisects the
icefields parkway. the mountains at last. we take the trans canada highway
west and end the day in revelstoke, bc. a good start...our 800 km first
days' drive is exactly 16x more riding than jim has ever done before!
hi-point on trip to date: your humble
writer survives a 120 km bird strike to the helmet...l win, but law school
beckoned for a couple of minutes.
first nite on the road and we make the
expensive error of rolling into revelstoke on the august 1st weekend. no
campgrounds, hotels, nada...nothing available until salmon arm, a couple
of more hours on the road. we find the glacier house resort 20 minutes out
of town...last room in 100 km. expensive!
