comox, the strait of georgia and powell river.

we make tracks back on
highway 4 with a side trip through ucluelet. we hit port alberni and it is
getting friggin hot again. we get back onto hw 1 and head north to comox.
as usual, we end up stuck
between ferry crossing so we head back to tour the canadian forces base at
comox. we try to find some evidence of the Canadian forces at comox. is
fruitless. however, we manage find a bar at the end of the runway
where we spend the next couple of hours/beers. yet again l wish l had not
forgotten my 440 sqn zappers....
at the appointed hour we
board the ferry to powell river and then find the bar on the ferry.
the drive from powell
river to a campground is gratefully short. tents are pitched at the ground
and we drag some 'borrowed' lawn chairs and beers to a clearing
overlooking the georgia strait and proceed to watch the
beginning of the perseid meteor shower...or
fireflies. whatever. it was cool. we drank beers and solved the universe's
problems yet again.
and then we head home

cool place along highway 4 big trees. big targets. but it is big shade on another steamy hot day on hw 4 go east young men...the bc mainland the only flag that counts...the strait of georgia we are the ferry kings. jim runs from the truth. day sliding into night...approaching the bc mainland arrrrrrrrrrrr...the ground is shaking again. quick...lie down. it is harder to fall once you are already lying down....it made sense at the time... the day after the night before, the falling stars long since drowned and the shaking has resided. lawn chairs are intact.
