victoria. we are up early and actually to get a renta-racer for 2 days,
and we are off to visit the finer points of bc's capital city. tourists
are underfoot everywhere.
first stop is the empress hotel and
surrounding hinterland. we drink beer and go shopping. l run into an
ex-yellowknifer outside the only bookstore l can remember in victoria. it
is very hot. we drink more beer.

one horsepower buggy in front of the parliament buidlings. empress in the background first war memorial on the parliament grounds we walked by this mermaid without stopping. however, once we learned her gig, we got beers and watched as others stopped to drop money in her hat... the empress the way it showed be viewed ie off the bar deck of a yacht....one of these days. artsy shot of someone else's boat the empress the way most tourists take it the ubiquitous empress shot ruined with said tourist posing in front of it - one of the 6 stock kodak pictures of all time a cigar shop on douglas street....downtown victoria angela...late of yellowknife, now living and working on vancouver island. another arsty-touristy shop of some stupid mall in victora as the evening waned and we found somewhere else to drink l take yet another touristy shot...when in rome...
